Robert Mathis serves as Chief Executive Officer, Emeritus of Peachtree Planning Corporation. Since its inception April 1st, 1987, his strategy has been to serve clients with a proven financial planning process rather than just selling financial products. He implemented this strategy by developing a planning firm to provide for the complex financial goals of individual and business clients. Bob’s vision was to start a company designed from the beginning to “help some people, make some money, and have some fun.” Attracting extremely bright, self-directed, driven advisors and professional staff with proven success patterns and strong family values, has created an environment fulfilling that vision. Recognized in 2011 by The Atlanta Journal and Constitution as one of “Atlanta’s Top Workplaces,” Bob gives credit to the culture and high rate of retention. Today, the firm has over 100 advisors and 50 plus professional staff-serving clients from more than 20 offices in the Southeast located in Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and the Carolina’s.
Bob graduated from the University of Georgia Business School in 1976, majoring in Accounting and Risk Management. Since then, Bob has worked in the employee benefits, executive compensation, risk management, retirement planning, investment planning, and estate planning areas. During this time, Bob completed a course of study in Executive Development at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, and achieved his Chartered Life Underwriter® designation in 1978 from The American College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. Bob is a Series 7 licensed Registered Representative, a Series 24 licensed Registered Principal of Park Avenue Securities, LLC (PAS) and, a Series 65 Investment Advisor Representative.
Professional memberships and achievements include, but not limited to: Life Membership in the Million Dollar Roundtable, the Association of Advanced Life Underwriters, the American Society of Pension Actuaries, the Atlanta Estate Planning Council, the American Society of Chartered Life Underwriters and Chartered Financial Consultants. Bob is a former Chairman of the Guardian’s Field Advisory Board. He also served on the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce Board of Advisors. Bob was recognized as the 2006 University of Georgia Risk Management and Insurance Alumnus of the Year. In 2010, Peachtree Planning Corporation was nationally recognized as a Master Agency by GAMA International it’s 12th consecutive year.
Bob and his wife Betty live in the Brookhaven neighborhood of Atlanta. They have three grown children, James, Sam and Sydney; and two grandchildren, Grace and Owen. Bob is active in community involvement predominantly through the Peachtree Planning Foundation. The Foundation’s primary purpose is to support community endeavors and meet human needs through focused, funded initiatives. Bob has served on the Board of Elders at Peachtree Presbyterian Church.
