John graduated from the University of Virginia in 1971 and received his J.D. degree from the University of Georgia in 1974. He was in a private legal practice for eight years before joining an Atlanta-based firm specializing in executive benefit programs, where he served as Vice President and General Counsel. Concurrently, he attended Emory University School of Law and received his LL.M. degree in taxation. John is also a Series 7 licensed Registered Representative with PAS, a Series 65 Registered Investment Advisor and a Series 24 licensed Registered Principal.
John currently serves as the Senior Executive Vice President, Advanced Planning of Peachtree Planning Corporation. His practice is largely concentrated on the design and funding of corporate benefit programs and estate liquidity needs, buy/sell arrangements, salary continuation plans, and charitable gift programs. Professional memberships and achievements include The Georgia Bar Association.
In addition to being a frequent lecturer on estate and business planning topics, John is a co-author (with American Bar Subcommittee) of the following publications: “Executive Compensation: A Road Map for the Corporate Advisor”, 40 Business Lawyer 219 (1984) and “Executive Compensation: A 1987 Road Map for the Corporate Advisor”, 43 Business Lawyer 185 (1987).
John and Cheryl have six children, live in Buckhead and are members of The Cathedral of St. Philip. In addition, John is a member of the Piedmont Driving Club.
